Androids are not full characters, but necessary in some missions. Can be used exactly like a crewmember (except without any emotions or needs they work far more slavishly). Hideously expensive however, and once their iridium crystal core is used up they are scrap. The rumours of Androids going crazy are just that. Rumours.
